What is an Inner Line Permit?
An Inner Line Permit (ILP) is an official travel document issued by the Government of India to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen into a protected area for a limited period. For foreign nationals, a Protected Area Permit (PAP) is required.
Areas Requiring Permits:
- Nubra Valley (Khardung La, Diskit, Hunder, Turtuk)
- Pangong Tso (Chang La, Merak, Chushul)
- Tso Moriri & Tso Kar
- Aryan Valley (Dha, Hanu)
- Hanle & Umling La
Note: Permits are not required for visiting Leh local sightseeing (Sham Valley, Magnetic Hill, Sangam) or Zanskar Valley.
Required Documents
Indian Nationals (ILP)
- Valid Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Passport
- Passport size photograph
Foreign Nationals (PAP)
- Valid Passport
- Valid Indian Visa / OCI Card
- Must apply in a group of 2 or more
